Bereavement Midwives: Support When the Unimaginable Happens

When a family loses a baby, the grief can be overwhelming. The role of our bereavement midwives is to be alongside that family as they start that bereavement journey.

Thanks to funding provided by Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, more midwife roles have been developed to provide specialist bereavement care across the whole of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Our Bereavement Midwives provide families with emotional support, memory-making opportunities, and practical advice, whether it’s through a loss during pregnancy or after birth. It’s not just about care in the moment, but also offering ongoing support through follow-ups and bereavement counselling.

The loss of a baby leaves a lasting impact on families, but through our bereavement support services, we hope to offer some comfort and healing.
