Bereavement Support for Families
For parents, the death of a child is simply unimaginable. Sadly, it can become a reality for some families.
In 2017, we proudly launched a new Bereavement Service which will provide invaluable support to parents, siblings and families during the most traumatic time of their lives.
We have funded this vital service which will be delivered in partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Child Bereavement UK, to provide crucial support for families facing or following the death of their baby or child.
"When a child dies, the care for the child stops; the care for the parents should then begin.”
Michael, parent
Our Bereavement Service costs £110,000 per year to run and provides immediate and long-term support to the families, helping them to rebuild their lives after the devastation of child bereavement through:
- Face-to-face support sessions for individuals, couples, siblings and families
- Support groups allowing parents, families and siblings to meet others.
- Booked telephone support sessions for parents unable to access face-to-face support
- Liaison with other organisations as appropriate, such as schools.
