Arnold Clark Drive £100k Fundraising Boost for Children’s Hospital
A fundraising campaign by Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity has moved up a gear thanks to a generous boost from corporate supporter, Arnold Clark.
To mark its 20th Anniversary, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity launched a Grand Prize Draw competition to win a brand new MINI Electric – donated by Arnold Clark - worth over £29,000.
The charity’s team of staff and volunteers took the electric vehicle on a roadshow that spanned the west of Scotland, raising over £51,000 from generous members of the public.
However, charity partners Arnold Clark stepped in to bulk up the fundraising total even further with a matched funding donation, bringing the total raised to over £102,000.
Funds raised from the campaign will help Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity continue its vital services which support seriously ill children in hospital and their families. The Charity – which has invested almost £40M since it was founded in 2001 - relies solely on fundraising and donations to fund life-changing projects like its hospital Play Programme, family support and bereavement services, paediatric research and wellbeing support for NHS staff.
Kirsten Watson, Chief Executive, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity said: “Our longstanding partnership with Arnold Clark is a special one which has helped us to transform hospital experiences for children from across the Scotland. We are very grateful to the team at Arnold Clark for their incredible generosity and unwavering support during these challenging times. As the pandemic continues to have a significant impact on our fundraising income, funds raised from this campaign will be crucially important in making sure that we can continue to provide families with the support they need while their child is cared for in hospital. We would like to thank everyone who purchased tickets and our amazing volunteers who helped to make our Grand Prize Draw so successful.”
The eco-friendly car was won by Katrina Mitchell, 52, Glasgow, who entered the competition after seeing it advertised in a local shop. She said: “I couldn’t believe it when Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity phoned to say that I had won the car. I feel so lucky to have won such an amazing prize, and it’s brilliant to know that so much was raised for this worthwhile cause along the way.”
Eddie Hawthorne, Chief Executive and Group Managing Director, Arnold Clark said: “Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity does incredible work, helping young children and their families at some of the most challenging times of their lives. We’re delighted to continue our support with the donation of a MINI Electric and I want to thank everyone who entered the Grand Prize Draw. Arnold Clark have matched the amount raised to help the charity continue to make a real difference to people throughout the west of Scotland.”
