David McClelland

David is Vice President of Operational Transformation for the Swiss life science company, Solvias.  He is an experienced business leader, having led large organisations in both Scotland and the USA.

David grew up in Irvine and initially pursued a career in Aerospace Engineering, working for GE Aviation in Prestwick.  After graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University as a mature student, David developed his managerial skills at GE before joining BioReliance Ltd (now part of Merck KGaA) in 2005.  He held both local and global leadership roles at Merck before moving to Solvias in 2024 as VP of Operational Transformation.  He now splits his time between Scotland and various global Solvias locations.

David is married to Carol and together they have three children.  He has been a long-time advocate of Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, , both as a personal and corporate fundraiser.  By joining the Board of Trustees, David is keen to offer his many years of business leadership experience to further the aims of Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.
